Vogue editorial- Daria Werbowy, Tribal Fashion

Ive been looking into body modification a lot for this unit, but I want to put some time into high fashion  images! I just came across these beautiful images from a Vogue, March 2010 editorial.

I never quite realised how much tribal traditions etc. could influence fashion, but this editorial is absolutely beautiful, Werbowy looks almost like an Avatar here, perfect for a tribal role.

These looks have been put together with numerous pieces from all different designers, an entire Alexander Mcqueen runway look doesnt even look out of place here.

You can see within this editorial that modern day collections do not look out of place on a tribal shoot, experimentation is key!

From the research I have already done, i think body art is going to play a heavy part in my final shoots, these striking black markings are what makes the entire image work! I want to try and look in to what different prints mean what? do they even have meanings or are they simply decoration? I want to find out! I also want to explore more modern day tribal looks within fashion.

Looking primarily at the hair and face, the hair is cornrowed and simple- this has already sparked an idea for the perfect model i know, and he has agreed to take part in the shoot! yey! The face is so simple here, unlike the shoot from D Magazine, she looks beautiful but lets the body art do the talking, I'm still unsure on what direction i want to take the face, but my mind is already made up that i need to investigate body art and want to include it!
