In our first lecture, we were given Rodarte Spring 2010 rtw collection to look at for inspiration into this project, I wanted to come back and take a look on my own to get a more in depth opinion of the collection. It's a high fashion example of tribal inspiration in fashion, it's got me thinking about my final shoot, obviously the theme is tribal and I have to come up with my own interpretations but I am still left to decide whether i want to take it down a more traditional route like the D magazine shoot, or a more high fashion route like Vogue or Rodarte.
By adding black 'tattoos' to the arms, a quite modern, gothic/grunge look is completely transformed into tribal beauties.
This is extremely similar to Vogue's editorial, it shows me just how easily I can inject some tribal warrior into a high fashion shoot!

The Clothes
Detailing and beauty
Looking at these images has taken some of the pressure away from me, I am quite a perfectionist and if something doesnt look as neat as it possibly can I panic; looking at the make up detailing for this collection, none of it is perfect! You can see that the black body art is hand drawn on, and when I think about it.. so is real tribal body art, it doesnt have to be totally precise and stencilled to perfection to look amazing, this is high fashion body art but it holds an aspect of real tribal traditions with its hand drawn affect.
The hair and faces are so simple yet are enough to be striking, real tribes people wont be done to perfection and it leaves room for more fun with this topic.
I absolutely love the gothic, vampy vibe from this collection though, it pulls it away from tradition and makes it modern and high fashion yet without losing the obvious initial inspiration.
