Evaluation

When I received the brief for this project it immediately excited me, and I dived head first in to researching like mad on the Internet. I think my blog is strong throughout all aspects of research the only thing I would change if I could do it differently would be to link things back to my research more. I realised quite quickly that fashion styling was more inspiring to me than the research based around real tribes. I also think I could have explained more in to why I suddenly changed my direction from body modification to fashion. But over all I think I did a good amount of relevant research.
When it came to the shoots, my editorial went extremely well. I was really pleased with my over all out come and think the pictures really do make a strong editorial image, I linked the shoot well back in to my research and am pleased with my final outcome. My second shoot wasn’t as strong as my first but I decided I wanted to do a high fashion catwalk look that could be created quickly but effectively to the timings of a catwalk. I wanted both of my shoots to run on a similar theme and I chose quite a modern take on what tribal could be interpreted as. If I could do this project again I would redo my catwalk shoot as I think this is where I lacked in effort, but I am very pleased with my high fashion editorial shoot. I really enjoyed blogging as a way of putting across my thoughts, I prefer it to sketchbook work.

Editorial- Final Images

Editorial Final Images

These are my 2 chosen final images, I wanted one to be with the fur coat and one without to show the shoulder work. Overall I am very happy with my final images and the whole shoot went very well, I received positive feedback from my tutor and my peers at the completion of my shoot and throughout.

I chose both these images mainly around the basis of Ewart's pose, his facial expressions in these images are strong and the lense shot is centred well giving the image a more professional appearance.

There are a few things i would change about this shoot if I could do it again, next time I would give his face more definition with other colours as I think in some areas the images look a little flat. I would also change the background; I really loved the backdrop of the D-magazine shoot that I included in my mood board, it really added to the image and the skin tone of the model. I think that I tied the accessories in well with the make up and theme, and fulfilled the ideas i used within the mood board and research.

Editorial Look- Photo Shoot

contact prints and overview of shoot;

 These are some of the contact prints of my Editorial shoot with Ewart, and I am so happy with how it turned out!

The shoot itself went well, I struggled with his hair as before he had braids and then had to think of an idea to include with afro hair- this was my fault as I should have kept up to date with Ewart and have known exactly what i was tackling on the day of the shoot.

I had to make a couple of impulse changes throughout the shoot, which really helped me get a feel for what it is like working on real shoots when you need to change and alter looks to fit in with the photographers vision and what is shown through the lense.

Throughout the shoot i added gold to his shoulder bones to add some definition into the image which would stop him feeling so 2 dimensional. Also by adding in a fur coat to some images it transformed the look in to a more high fashion image instantly!

Catwalk Look- Final Images

If i could do this shoot again I would change a lot, Id do it in a more professional setting as that lets my image down but I wouldn't change the make up id just perfect my freehand drawing to make it more perfect but I feel the look gets across what I wanted to convey and that was a modern, beautiful but simple for catwalk ready image. I would use tape and other forms of aids to allow me a beautiful finish as freehand drawing of lines is very difficult.

contact prints and overview of shoot;

 These are some of the contact prints of my Editorial shoot with Elena, I had to change models last minute as the first time my model let me down and I had to find a replacement quickly.

The shoot itself went could definitely have been done to a better standard and I wish I had practiced it through a few times first to have come up with better look and it comes down to the amount of effort I put in.

I wanted this shoot to be very high fashion, and I wanted it to be simple yet statement to compliment the outfits the models would be wearing on the run way, and would allow for copying on to numerous models quickly.

Final face chart- Editorial

This is my final face chart and what I will be applying to my model on the final shoot, this is my avant garde look.

For the hair I am keeping it quite simple, but roughly brushing the hair into a point right in the centre of the head keeping the curls and the hair very tight and moulded well. I have this image of a bird in my head when it comes to my final shoot, a jet black, slick bird.

The lips are gold, and It was here i decided black and gold were my theme colours. I wanted white and gold markings on the face but carrying a theme on with the glossy lids, untouched lashes and brows.

Face Charts and Planning

I started off by drawing some face charts up, I can see straight away how fashion based my looks are and how modern. I am using a lot of gold and black after drawing in inspiration from Perou's fashion shoot. My favourite hair style is the high slick pony tail with a gold cuff accessory.

I have looked at quite simple make up like the previous vogue shoots and cat walk shows I have researched. I want a really clean cut simple look for my cat walk shoot

Playing around

Im not entirely sure what these were in aid of but i just wanted to have a little play around with some shapes and colours and experiment a bit. I did a fashion course a few years ago and we were taught a simple way of drawing abstract model by using a cut out from a magazine, cutting it at certain parts of the body and extending it on another piece of paper then tracing them. I was a lot better at it back in the day these are so rough! But they were fun to do....
